role of media in that particular scene and what your opinion regarding the

a scene you find the most profound in the movie.
One of the
scene in ‘ The Truman Show’ that captivates me is the last scene before he went
out from the dorm. Truman always hoped to go to Fiji Island and even though the
show director Christof tried to stop him with the horrible storm and rain
during his sailing to Fiji, he never once gave up. He even tried to overcome
the fear of sea and of his childhood memories. Eventually, he came to the end
of the dorm, he thought that that was the end as he tried to push past the big
dorm. After that he saw a door where exit was and decided to get out, that was
the most touching part as he decided that he did not want to be controlled by
anyone again, he wanted be a free man. The role of media in that particular
scene was Christof played himself as a God that wanted to control Truman’s
mind, persuaded him to stay rather than leave as inside world was much safer
than outside the dorm.
Personally,
I think that the movie is trying to bring out the message of the media is
controlling the world and the society are influenced by media just like
Christof himself playing God that control the mind and life of Truman. In that
movie, there are always scene of his wife and his best friend trying to
advertise the brand of what they use or drink in everyday life. They used the
media to influence or persuade the audience for trying their brand or buy their
brand just as in real life. There are also scene that the poster of plane crash
trying to convince Truman that travelling by plane was dangerous so that he
won’t have the thought of leaving his place. In real life, such as politician
trying to use media to control the country’s thought on some information of
what we see and heard it’s actually not the truth, so that it won’t affect
their status. Furthermore, there is scene of Truman found out the truth behind
the elevator, where that actually was not a real elevator, just a cover for
acting and scene. Just as in real life, everything in the movie, horror,
romance, fantasy etc seem true and fantastic but in reality it was not like
that. Behind those scene were all just the good acting, media, computer
graphics. The actor just need to act and basically those fantasy scene are made
up. There is also the scenes when come to his best friend and his father part,
whom his best friend played the role to comfort him whenever he had troubles.
His father later been found out was not dead and they rejoice, the part where
the scene touches the audiences heart and emotion, they cried and wish for
Truman. Those typical scene that always replay and replay in movies and even in
entertainment programme such as X factor, American idol, playing with audiences
emotion to seemingly let them interact with the main character, so that
audiences will continue to support him.
As conclusion, media may seem to control
us or trying to manipulate us, but we can also control media by our own believe
and instinct. We cannot trust everything in what the media says, we have to
judge with our own eyes, and don’t let media deceive us easily.
