Question: Based on the statement above,
share your thoughts on the issue, of how community video can make changes in
people, and the community that they belonged to. You can give some examples to
explain.
I
believe that media can make changes to people, and the community they belonged
to. Media is very powerful, as it can destroy a person’s images and status,
create awareness, changes people’s thought or even kill a people. Media
development will give effects to politics, economic, cultural, education and
etc. For example: a video that create awareness such as ‘beware of strangers’.
The video give awareness to people and community to learn to concern for their
surrounding and safety. There are always cases of kidnapping, snatching,
stealing occurs, and this is because most of the people don’t really aware of
their surrounding and observing strangers. Hence, the thief or the kidnapper
can easily take action. With taking the example in real life from CCTV or by
acting out and make it into a video, and then through social media we share out
to people.
Furthermore,
video can make changes to a person’s images and status. For example: in a case
of small car accident, if one of the owner who has hot tempered and he/she
immediately jump out of the car and shout some vulgar words to another car
owner, his/her images and status might just destroy in a second. This is
because if a person video the scene live, the video is broadcasted to everyone,
and some people find it interesting and share it out to their circle and share
it out to whoever. So that video will cause chaos in the community while
everyone post their bad comments and opinion towards that hot tempered owner,
and may cause the owner to lose her job or identity due to the video even
though the owner may not do it on purpose, it is just she can’t control her
temper. Video can also help in the purpose of educational. For example: video
of tutorial. As it gives help to especially students, now students no longer
get information from reference books anymore, they can easily get references
from internet, youtube. There are tons of video to teach you, giving you
tutorial even better that what students learn in school. Some people even
determine to self-learn by not having for a teacher to teach, they learn
everything from youtube video such as music, swimming, programming, photographing,
etc.
I think that
media also has the power to affect politics. We knew that nowadays newspaper
don’t really give the true information, as the info was controlled by the
government. However, in media, we can share out the political issues, sometimes
some unknown issues just came out of nowhere and be shared to the community to
let us know. Media sharing is so powerful and will affect the politicians status
and images and also the opinion of the community towards the political issues, as
the message can be spread like lightning.
I
like the movie of Three Idiots, I think that Three Idiots is one of the example
of video that can change the people and community. As in the movie, it reflects
the reality of the society. It also gave the viewers a long deliberation. Subhash K. Jha stated: "It's not that 3 Idiots is a flawless work of art. But it is a vital,
inspiring and life-revising work of contemporary art with some heart imbued
into every part. In a country where students are driven to suicide by their
impossible curriculum, 3 Idiots provides
hope. Maybe cinema can't save lives. But cinema, sure as hell, can make you
feel life is worth living. 3
Idiots does just that, and much more. The director takes the
definition of entertainment into directions of social comment without assuming
that he knows best.”
